Nineteen independent public libraries in Inyo, Riverside and San Bernardino counties cooperate their efforts to locate, deliver and share their resources and thereby provide better library service for library customers in the three-county area. A delivery system connects member libraries so that requests for materials or information may be quickly located and delivered.
The California Library Services Act and membership fees from the public libraries provide the funds for system activities.
Library customers with a valid library card from any member library may borrow materials from any other member library, subject to local library regulations. Books and periodicals may be returned to any library in the system. Special regulations may apply to some library materials. More than two million volumes are available within the system. Books may be requested from other system libraries through interlibrary loan, and they will be delivered to the requesting library by the Inland Library System delivery services, UPS or US Mail. Other kinds of materials may also be available for loan.
Member libraries of the system have access to supplementary interlibrary reference and bibliographical services for questions requiting a search beyond the local level. These services are provided through the System Reference Center.
